2010 Board of Elders Workshops
Heads Up! Living Out the Call to Board Leadership

This represents a major reworking of our 2007 "Best Practices for Church Boards"  workshop, and would be ideal for new and prospective board members as well as a refresher for those who took it 3 years ago.  Boards work in an increasingly complex environment and without adequate orientation (and refreshers) to their roles and responsibilities it can easily become overwhelming.

Over time board members will wear three hats: (1) the 'Cause' hat - paying attention to where God is leading us; (2) the 'Community' hat - paying attention to the people God has given us to care for; and (3) the 'Corporate' hat - paying attention to the business, legal, reporting and compliance aspects of church ministry.  The objective of the workshop is to help board members understand what is involved in wearing each 'hat' and how to accomplish all this with limited time for board meetings.

Sample materials will be provided to help the board do its work well.

Primary Presenter: Bob Rose, Executive Administrator, CP District of the C&MA
