This year's DITS Seminar:

Community Engagement:  A Guide to Incarnational Living

Seminar Outline:

Often in our desire to stand for Biblical principles we can end up fighting the symptoms while ignoring the root source.  This seminar addresses this issue from the perspective of living well in all areas of life.  Typically we view each relationship in our lives from two perspectives; what we desire and what we have.  The greater the gap between these two positions, the greater the stress, lack of purpose and frustration.  This seminar helps the participant to learn how to identify the gaps in their own lives and how to address the gaps within their community.  Included in this seminar is a template that has been proven to be affective in determing direction for new initiatives in the local church.
Community Engagement will assist the participant in both developing and evaluating sustainable initiatives from three perspectives: The organizing agency (a congregation, business, club), the participating individual,  and the recipient.

The Presenter:  Rev. David Collins

David is the son of missionary parents (Harold and June, Vietnam).  He with his wife Nancy have pastored three congregations and served as C&MA missionaries in Thailand and the Philippines, working in Vietnamese refugee camps.  Upon returning to Canada, Dave founded the work of Canadian Food for the Hungry Int'l (1994).  In May 2007, David and Nancy sensed God's confirming blessing on a growing desire to invest their lives back in the Bride of Christ in Canada.  As a result, Paradigm Ministries was birthed in January 2008.  www.paradigmministries.ca  David now works with congregations, church leadership (boards and staff), camps, NGO's and the business community.  He grows in his love for contemplative prayer and a growing understanding of resting in the sovereign hands of God.  He is passionate about God's kingdom being enjoyed by every community in Canada and also believes that this nation holds a special place in the global arena.  God's people are coming together from a sense of personal urgency to engage.
