History of the Spanish Alliance Church
Church Planting Featured Story
by Bruno Gonzalez Garcia
During this month of July, we are celebrating our third anniversary as a church. And I would like to tell you, how this church in Surrey started.
God has many ways to form churches. Our church was born as a consequence of something very sad and painful that happened in the church we were part of. We'd never have wished that it would have started as it did, but God, who is Sovereign used those circumstances to glorify His Name and formed this church.
Through this traveled road and all that we have lived, most of us who are here can say we undoubtedly serve a God who lives, is real and is all Almighty and that His son Jesus Christ our Savior has been, is and we want Him to continue being the head of this flock, His church which He bought with his own life.
After the sad event mentioned earlier, a group of brothers met to pray at someone's home. Others joined them a few days later to pray. There were ten brothers and some children who with broken hearts cried out to the Lord, asking that He do something in their midst.
The first services were held at these homes. It was beautiful to notice how the presence of the Lord was felt each moment within the brethren. How good it is when we come to the Lord and cry out with strength, LORD HELP US! And sure enough He really did.
After a few months of meeting at different homes these brothers started to pray for a place to rent to be able to congregate. The prices were outrageous, but in faith and believing that our God is great and real, they decided to take a step of faith.
Later these bothers needed to join a denomination, and that's how we met the Christian and Missionary Alliance who opened their doors for us. We only have words of thankfulness to the Lord and also to the Alliance for all their support during this time.
Dear Brothers from the Alliance, Thank you so much for your support and prayers!
Then we started to look for a Pastor and the Lord in His Grace and Mercy after interviewing many candidates who came to our doors, brought us Brother Bruno and his wife Lidia from Spain. This month of July is the first anniversary of Pastor Bruno with us and he and his family have been in our congregation for two years.
We are very thankful to the Lord for all He has done for us. Today there are sixty people attending the church regularly plus the visitors. And by God's grace this month of August we'll celebrate our first baptisms in a lake.
Please continue praying for us so that the Lord will continue working in a special way in our Latin community.
Exodus 33:14
The LORD replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."
