Interested in continued learning, but don't know where to start!? The Foundations for Ministry Course is being offered in October and is open to our district congregations. While this course is a requirement for many of our accredited workers, it is also open to people for audit if they are interested.
The next Foundations for Ministry Course will be held at Coquitlam Alliance Church on October 22& 23. The title of the course is Discipleship and Mentoring. This course will examine the Biblical disciple and the subsequent life change that occurs while committing to being a devoted follower of Christ. Discipleship is seen as the passing on of Christ-likeness.

What Are the Foundations for Ministry Courses?
These courses are offered in the CPD each February and October in order to help new workers to the district fulfill accreditation requirements. The courses will also be available to persons from area churches who are not seeking placement with the Alliance but simply want to enhance their own spiritual growth and understanding. These five one credit courses are taken over a three year period following placement, in addition to the Alliance History and Thought course which is taken for credit normally within one year of placement.
Who Teaches the Courses?
The courses are taught by faculty from our school in Calgary, Ambrose University College. The courses are a partnership between Alliance districts and the school, as part of a joint effort to serve our Canadian constituency and further the goal of lifelong learning especially among Alliance workers and lay leaders.
Cost of the Courses
$250 per Alliance worker per course, or for others who wish to take a course for credit. $50 per course for those not required to take the course but wanting to audit it.
Courses will take place over a Friday evening and Saturday at an announced location, typically in the Lower Mainland, in order to provide accessibility to the greatest number of potential participants. The schedule will by 6:30pm - 9:30pm Friday evening and 9am - 4pm on Saturday. Coursework will be completed following the classes as required by the instructors. The time commitment is ten hours of class time and approximately thirty hours of reading and written work per course, for those required to take the series.
** Registration: Contact Karen at the District Office by email or phone (604-594-6766). Registration should take place by September 30, 2010.
